Bluegrass Music Commemorated with U.S. Postal Stamp
The genre built upon the creativity and precision of Bill Monroe is being recognized with a stamp in 2024. The U.S. Postal Serviced announced that a Bluegrass-themed stamp will be available starting in March. The design, illustrated by Heather Moulder of Tennessee, features the fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar with the phrase “High Lonesome Sound” embellished on the stamp.
Where to Attend the Bluegrass Postage Stamp Dedication Ceremony
Prior to Ricky Skaggs’ sold-out show on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky, a dedication ceremony will take place. The Honorable Robert M. Duncan, Member, Postal Service Board of Governors will present the official stamp dedication. This event will be held in the museum lobby at 6:00 PM CT and is open to the public.
How To Get The Bluegrass Postage Stamp
Customers and collectors can order directly from the U.S. Postal service and have the stamps shipped directly to the doors. A sheet of 20 Forever Stamps costs approximately $13.60. Other commemorative items include a first-day cover, matted stamps, and notebooks to celebrate the launch.
