George Strait To Receive Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award At CMA Awards

The Country Music Association announced that legendary star George Strait will receive the 2024 Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. George will accept the award live on the 58th Annual CMA Awards, airing live on ABC on Wednesday, November 20. The Country Music Hall of Famer is only the 9th recipient of the award.

The trophy’s namesake, Willie Nelson, received the inaugural one in 2012. Kenny Rogers (2013), Johnny Cash (2015), Dolly Parton (2016), Kris Kristofferson (2019), Charley Pride (2020), Loretta Lynn (2021), and Alan Jackson (2022).

George Strait holds the all-time record for most nominations from the CMAs with 83. He’s taken home the coveted Entertainer of the Year award three times in three different decades: 1989, 1990, and 2013. The superstar also has wins in the Album, Male Vocalist, Single, and Vocal Event categories.

A star-studded performance featuring several artists that admire George Strait perform his hits before George accepts his much-deserved award.
