Gretchen Wilson Joins "The Road" TV Show

Written by Amanda Tempel

Earlier this year, Blake Shelton announced he was partnering with Taylor Sheridan to launch a new music competition series called The Road. Soon after, he revealed that his longtime friend and fellow country superstar Keith Urban would also be joining the project. Now, another fan favorite is stepping in: none other than the original "Redneck Woman" herself, Gretchen Wilson.

Gretchen will serve as “tour manager” on the highly-awaited series. In this role, she will mentor and support rising artists as they travel across the country, using her years of experience on the road to help guide them through the ups and downs of touring life. Along with mentoring the young talent, Wilson will also take the stage herself for a special performance during the series.

"Becoming the ‘tour manager’ for The Road  has given me the chance to pour everything I’ve learned over my touring career into these young artists," Wilson shared. "Helping them grow their skills, connect with audiences, and face the tough realities of life on tour has been a true highlight for me. Getting to work alongside Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan, and the rest of this amazing team was an incredible experience. I’m honored to be a part of it, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!"

The Road  is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2025 on CBS and will also be available to stream on Paramount+.

The Road TV Show on CBS

The Road follows country superstars Keith Urban and Blake Shelton as they search for the next breakout act in country music. Rising artists (soon to be announced) will get the opportunity to open for Urban at venues across the U.S. The series offers a real, behind-the-scenes look at the tough, unpredictable life of a touring musician. Viewers will follow these hopefuls as they cram into a tour bus, tackle demanding schedules, and chase after their big break.

The show is produced by Lucky Horseshoe Productions (with Blake Shelton and Lee Metzger as executive producers), 101 Studios (with David Glasser), Bosque Ranch Productions (with Taylor Sheridan), MTV Entertainment Studios, and Keith Urban himself also serving as an executive producer.
